Lekota Still Wants Zuma Called To Account

ANC Chairman and Minister of Defence Mosiuoa “Terror” Lekota is sticking to his guns that Zuma should be called to account to the ANC for his various remarks in the rape trial. Lekota is famous for his forthright approach and has in the past even gone up against Mandela when the latter tried to enforce a 30% female quota without consulting ANC constituencies. He has also been one of the only ANC politicians to have publicly questioned the effectiveness of affirmative action and whether it should have a termination date of sorts.

The linked article mentions that many see Lekota’s role in this as an attempt to put himself in the limelight as a potential presidential candidate and they may be right, but he has been a staunch Mbeki ally since Mbeki plucked him from the National Council of Provinces straight into the Ministry of Defence. And frankly if that’s true good on him, at least one ANC politician has the balls to put himself out there.
