    There’s a bit statistical skullduggery in that article, thought.

    The first paragraph says “Blacks are still poor and account for a fraction of the middle class”. But the second paragraph says that “the proportion (of blacks) belonging to (middle class) is 7,8 percent while it’s 15,6 percent for coloureds, 10,7 percent for Indians and 33 percent for whites”.

    I don’t have current population statistics at hand, but I’m pretty sure “7.8% of the black population” describes a bigger group of people than “33% of the white population”. That doesn’t like “a fraction of the middle class” to me – more like a majority.
